PARTNERS
FOR TOMORROW
PFT was
established to provide a program for those who want to volunteer but do
not have 3-5 hours a week. This group meets on a regular basis to
plan, organize and sponsor activities for waiting and matched kids.
Members are involved in fundraising projects such as Bowl for Kids' Sake,
The Taste and the Golf Tournament. Members help to plan activities
such as softball games, summer Olympics, swim parties, hockey games, hayrides,
holiday parties, fishing derbies, hiking trip, and zoo days. By assisting
in the planning and organizing of these activities, the member provide
a valuable service to both the kids and the staff. If you are interesting
becoming a member or need more information, please call Hilary at the office.

SPEAKER'S
BUREAU
This committee
will seek out new opportunities to speak about Big Brothers Big Sisters
and also be called upon by the agency to attend public speaking events
and communicate the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Committee members
will target specific needs (i.e. need for Big Brothers for 100 children
on waiting list) and act as spokesperson for Big Brothers Big Sisters
in the community . Committee members will also be included in United Way
rallies and speak to companies about Big Brothers Big Sisters. The
only requirement is that you have a story to tell! This is a perfect
opportunity for Bigs to tell the community about their positive experience
with their little, and for parents to talk about the positive nature of
their child's relationship with their Big. Speaker's training will
be provided. Call Deanna at the office for more information. |

RECRUITMENT
COMMITTEE
Recruitment
committee members will plan and implement new ways to recruit "Bigs" for
the children on the waiting list. These will include posting flyers,
bringing new potential Bigs to planned activities, finding new companies
for school-based mentoring. Recruitment committee meetings are held
quarterly. Requirements include: a desire to find "Bigs" for each
of the almost 100 children on the waiting list! Call Deanna at the office
to join! |

|
Mentor's
Bureau
This is
a new committee where existing Bigs who have been a Big Brother for at
lease one year will be "buddied up" with new Bigs in an effort to provide
guidance and support. If you remember what it was like to be the
"New Big on the Block" and would like to help a new Big become oriented
to the program, this committee is for you! Call Melissa at the office
for more information. |

Building
Committee
As many
of you know we are running out of space! Big Brothers Big Sisters
of Greater Oklahoma City has matched 104% more children since 1996.
This is very exciting, but present new challenges. With this growth
comes more staff to help more children. We are in the beginning process
of locating a building to purchase. Anyone interested in this committee
would help to (1) locate property or a building (2) make phone calls and
visit to inquire about properties (3) target leads for a donation of property
or building in a location which is safe and in a central location (4) help
acquire funds through donations and a Capital Campaign to purchase the
property or building . Call Laurie at the office for more information. |
