BBBS
is a non-profit organization and we charge no fees for our services to
the community. This is why your support and donations are so important.
Every little bit helps! With the money that is raised we can recruit, screen,
and match more children! How can you help?
-
sign up to
bowl for our "Bowl For Kids' Sake" (BKS) fundraiser

-
Help obtain
door prizes for our BKS party days. Ask anyone you normally do business
with if they can donate door prize items such as gift certificates, dry
cleaning vouchers, restaurant gift certificates, etc. then bring them by
the office.
-
Make an outright,
tax-deductible donation to BBBS in any amount.
-
Donate in-kind
items the agency might need…
-35 mm
color and black and white film
-13" color
VCR/TV combo to use at information booths
-copier
paper (Thanks to OK Envelope Company for donating 4 cases of paper and
to BB Chris Stamm for offering to buy the agency a new dolly after reading
our Wish List in the last newsletter!)
Volunteers
Needed
Although
there are more children being matched with Bigs than ever before, there
are still areas of the Metro that are in need of volunteers. There are
children in South OKC, Mustang, Yukon, and Jones that have been waiting
for up to three years for a Big. Almost all of these children are boys!
Please pass the word that volunteers are needed in these areas for the
children who have been waiting such a long time. There is also still a
need for male volunteers in other areas of OKC. There are over 95 boys
waiting!
No Experience
Needed
To be a
Big Brother! To qualify, you don't have to be an expert with kids. You
don't have to be the parenting type. There are over 106 boys on our waiting
list waiting for someone just like you. You—that's all you have to be and
you're qualified!
-
What is the
best way to recruit new volunteers?… YOU ARE, by telling your friends,
co-workers, family and church members about your involvement as a Big Brother
or Big Sister. If we work together, we will find volunteers for all
the waiting children!
-
Ask your church
leader if your favorite organization (BBBS, of course) could place a "want
ad" for volunteers in the bulletin.
-
Ask the manager
at your gym if you can hang a flyer in the locker rooms to let people know
how much we need volunteers.
-
Keep a "stash"
of information about BBBS at your desk and in your glove box, just in case
someone asks about BBBS!
